Pentaport first lineup announcement includes Vampire Weekend, Japanese Breakfast and a whole lot of Korean indie acts

Today, Pentaport made its first announcement lineup, and if you're a fan of the homegrown indie scene here in Korea, you’re in for a treat

Since 2006, Incheon-based rock music festival Pentaport has put on some of Korea's biggest guitar-focused live music events.

Fans of Pentaport were elated when earlier this year, the festival announced its plans to return to an in-person format after last year's virtual event.

This morning the festival revealed the first set of acts that are set to play at the event. The announcement was immediately followed by the sale of discounted early bird tickets. Those tickets sold out within an hour.

Headlining this year’s event will be Vampire Weekend. The New York-based band will be playing at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan one week earlier.

The other international acts announced today are indie-pop star Japanese Breakfast and American post-metal band Deafheaven. Some commentators were surprised by the lack of international acts in the announcement, but we fully expect more to be featured in future announcements.

While there may not be too many international acts, Pentaport makes up for it with a top-notch lineup of Korean indie.

The lineup will feature the likes of Say Sue Me, CHS, Lang Lee, Se So Neon, TRPP, Adoy, Hyodo and Bass, H9thaway, Crying Nut, Drinking Boys and Girls Choir, and much, much more...
